Trinity Rehabilitation, Inc.
Often, an important part of spine surgery rehabilitation and pain management is physical therapy for the back.
Generally speaking, the goals of physical therapy for the back are to increase function, decrease back pain, provide stabilization, and educate on how to prevent further damage. A wide range of treatments are available, and a patient’s physical therapy program typically includes a combination of stretching and strengthening exercises, as well as low-impact conditioning.
There is no one specific spine protocol. Each patient is an individual and each patient’s physical therapy plan will be individually structured by Dr. Blankenship and Steve Florey at Trinity. Gimmicks are just that. The North American Spine Society, an organization made up of spinal specialists including neurosurgeons, orthopedic surgeons, chiropractors, and pain management physician, has put out a statement regarding spinal decompression equipment and other equipment that come with great claims. NASS has stated unequivocally that there is no evidenced based science to support their use.
What to expect.
Dr. Blankenship relies on the experts at Trinity Rehabilitation and Sports Medicine to give his patients excellent physical therapy services. Trinity has expertise in all types of treatment modalities, with special emphasis on physical therapy for the back, and sports medicine.
Upon referral from Dr. Blankenship, Trinity will conduct a physical therapy evaluation and assessment. From there, they will develop a treatment plan that will focus on your needs and goals, restoring function and decreasing pain.
